What Did You Miss This Week??? (Week 172 #215)

Great Performances!!!

Class time this week was dedicated to some Juke rehearsal and a lot of wonderful performances! People continue to grow and play some amazing things!

Joe did pass out the recital schedule and on the back is his Recital Check List (both here), which is full of useful information about how to best impersonate a professional on stage. Read it over carefully and plan your stage time for best efficiency. Work to move on and off stage quickly and keep downtime between songs to a minimum. Don't hesitate to come up to the stage before the night begins or during a set break to familiarize yourself with things.

Joe did a quick review also of his blow bending pointers. Regarding Jimmy Reed, he suspects that Reed likely puckered his blow bends. Nevertheless, Joe is a big proponent of tongue-blocking your blow bends because, afterall, having your tongue forward is exactly what you want in order to get those bends.

Upcoming Recital Notes!

Juke practice next week! We will be reprising Shoji's wonderful ensemble arrangement of Juke for this recital, so brush it off and be ready for a few practices at 1:30pm and 7:45 pm in the coming weeks. This ensemble piece is open to all those who truly want to be involved.

Shoji Naito Play-Along Tracks!!!

Shoji has put together a webpage with an ever-expanding list of play-along tracks, including a new one for Ends & Odds. Check the page out and communicate with him via email to purchase these great learning tools!

Class Notes

  • We'll have Morry Sochat, front man and harmonica player for the Special 20s, in class next week, May 10. This will be a chance for him to give us road stories and tell us his secrets to getting bookings, and he'll have copies of his brand new CD for sale, "Eatin' Dirt".
