What Did You Miss This Week? (Week 207 #250)

Pretty Thing!!!

Joe taught the Bo Diddley/Billy Boy Arnold tune Pretty Thing this week. He talked about how this one chord groove is related to a rhumba and pointed out that it is good to break up the shuffles in a set list with some straight eighth tunes like this.

Great driving song and if you get yourself out to Vine Tastings this weekend, you could be lucky enough to hear it!

Trumpet Call!!!

In the YouMissedMonday recommended reading category is the magazine Trumpet Call. This is a harmonica magazine written with the collector in mind and is full of great articles, including one in the most recent issue by Pat Missin about the history of the term "harp" when applied to harmonicas. Email Harland Crain for subscription info.

Harrison Harps In the News!!!

Check out this article about Harrison Harmonicas - complete with a nod to Joe and our beloved Old Town School!

Class Notes
  • Recital highlight CDs from the 15th recital are now available. Take a CD and make any donation you can to the class fund which makes it possible for Joe to hire incredible musicians (Shoji Naito, Highway RickEy and Gavin Tun) to back us all at these recitals.
