What Did You Miss This Week? (Week 235 #278) August 30, 2011

Buddy Greene!!!

B1 was honored to have Nashville harmonica ace, Buddy Greene, visit class last night. Buddy shared wonderful stories and soundbites covering the evolution of his playing since he came on the scene in the 1970s. From his early influences of Jimmie Fadden (Nitty Gritty Dirt Band) and long-time hero and friend, Charlie McCoy, to demonstrating his love for playing all types of music (country, bluegrass, Irish, gospel), Buddy revealed his amazingly skillful and soulful musicianship. Not to mention, he's one of the nicest people on the planet.

Be sure to check out Buddy's latest release, Harmonica Anthology. Buddy is also featured in the cover story of Hohner's latest issue of Easy Reeding.

Very special thanks to Harlan Terson, "The Blues Person", for joining the B1 Blues Band on bass last night backing Buddy.

And let's start lobbying the Old Town School to book Buddy for a performance on the big stage sometime soon. Thanks, Buddy!
